Therapeutic Recreational Programs

The American Autism Association strives to create as many opportunities as possible for people with autism and their families. Therapeutic recreational programs have shown a plethora of benefits for people with autism. Each and every one of our programs is specifically designed to cater to those with special needs, working closely with behavioral, occupational, and speech therapists to incorporate therapeutic practices into the recreational activities that take place.

#AutismGoals: Special Needs Soccer Clinic

The American Autism Association hosts a soccer program to help children improve their social skills and engage in a fun, friendly physical activity. Soccer has proven to be a great therapeutic recreational program for individuals on the autism spectrum. The program is a group program, however, each child’s individual needs are catered to with individualized volunteers.

Saddle Up For Autism

Equine therapy, or more informally known as horse therapy, has shown to improve social, emotional, and motor skills. Our Saddle Up for Autism program uses the pleasures and skills of horseback riding and horse knowledge to build skills for each individual rider. Saddle Up for Autism also gives children the opportunity to interact with other animals at the ranch, and engage in games and activities with the other children.
