Community Spotlight: Anadil Siddiqi

Name: Anadil Siddiqi

School & Major: The Ohio State University, pursuing a BA in Psychology.

What are your plans after college? I hope to pursue a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, acquire my counseling license, and become a counselor for adults!

What would be your dream job? Working as a counselor in an underserved community. As a minority myself, it has always been a passion of mine to bring awareness regarding mental health to communities that need them most.

Why did you want to intern at the American Autism Association? I wanted to work directly with individuals who need help and build my communication skills with them. I love building new relationships and talking to other people, so the community outreach position was especially appealing to me.

What do you like to do in your free time? I am an absolute bookworm and will read pretty much anything. Although literary fiction is my favorite genre, I will love anything.

What’s been your favorite class in college and why? Abnormal psychology. Learning about various mental disorders, their symptoms, how they appear in clients, and how to potentially alleviate them allowed me to see that counseling is what I want to pursue as my career.

What are you most looking forward to after graduation? I am looking forward to field placements in clinics! Although I don’t hate academia, I will say that after being in school for my whole life, I am ready to finally get some hands-on experience. I am eager to practice counseling.

How do you like your coffee (or tea)? Coffee all the way! I need at least one cup per day, or I cannot function. Unless it’s snowing outside, I love a good iced coffee with vanilla and oat milk! On colder days, I settle for a hot latte!

Where is your dream vacation? I have always wanted to go to Italy. I think it is absolutely beautiful, and what I love about it is all the variety it seems to have! They have beautiful beaches, as well as great cities and historical sites to explore.
