On Saturday April 13, 2019 , student Emma Famili, in collaboration with two organizations at St. John’s University, hosted a spa day to raise funds for the American Autism Association. The two featured organizations were the Alpha Eta Pi chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, as well as WISE – Woman in Sports in Entertainment.
The event was held at St. John’s University‘s Queens campus. The fundraiser was a “blue out” with tables and walls covered in blue as well as a blue themed photo-booth. Guests were encouraged to wear blue and bring their favorite blue treats; blue cupcakes and blueberry tarts filled up the center table.
Different organizations on the university campus had tables with different activities. The activities included a paint and sip table where the paintings would be gifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Bayside, New York. Other activities were a make it yourself lip scrub, candy and crosswords, a fruit water infusion station and a make your own stress ball table.
The fundraiser allowed students, faculty and families alike to have a time to relax and de-stress while raising money for a good cause.
