On Saturday, March 16, 2019 the American Autism Association held its graduation for our Ballet for All Kids Spring 2019 class. We welcomed 7 student into its Ballet for All Kids session starting in February. Ballet for All Kids is our ballet program that allows children with special needs to learn different ballet techniques using the Schlate Method.

The Schlate Method is used to instruct the students. The method uses four different types of teaching: visual learning, auditory learning, vestibular learning, and emotional intelligence. More information on the Schlate method can be seen here.

Volunteers from different backgrounds and experiences worked with students to ensure everyone had one-on-one assistance. Volunteer Hilary Harper stated that she “loved working with the children in the program.”

A mother of a student, Susana Montes stated that “she and her son had a great experience and is happy to participate in programs such as Ballet for All Kids.”

After 5 sessions, on March 16, 2019 students gathered excited to show their final performance to their parents and caretakers at their graduation ceremony. They left the program with more confidence and skills that will continue to benefit them for years to come. Congratulations to all of our students!
